Beef gyro (shawarma) kebab features a marinated, seasoned steak that is cooked slowly on a rotating spit. Therefore, the essential part of the preparation is how you prepare and cook the beef. First, the steak is heaped on a vertical rotisserie after being soaked and seasoned in a bowl with garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, oregano, salt, and black pepper overnight. As the outer layer is roasted and cooked while turning slowly, small thin slices of meat are shaved off.
Beef gyro (shawarma) kebab is presented on a platter as an entrée. Therefore, to balance the watery and intense taste of the meat, we serve pita bread and rice pilaf along with the thin meat slices. Furthermore, lettuce, tomato, onions, and french fries or feta fries are also on the plate, depending on your choice.
